Spiderweb
CARY “DWARF” LYNDON
Age: 31
Hometown/Nation: Raleigh, NC (South)
Occupation: Special Effects Inventor for Presidential Union Circus, Tinkerer
Nicknames: Dwarf
Family: She came from a large family, and helped her mother take care of the younger ones. Now she’s off on her own and quite enjoys it.
Friends: Although she began her friendshp with Abigail as purely professional, she’s grown to enjoy the Captain’s company and (secretly) considers her a close and trusted friend.
Motto: “It’s brilliant.”
Dwarf can create anything, and that’s why people go to her. However, many people don’t know where to look. Living in a cabin far away from society, she only helps those who pay well and whose hearts are in the right place. This doesn’t mean that she doesn’t dabble in Galvanism and other rather dark sciences. If it sparks, she wants one.
MISS VIRGINIA JORDAN
Age: 30
Hometown/Nation: Chincoteague, Virginia (South)
Occupation: Overseer of Hostel and Tavern
Nicknames: Miss Virginia
Family: Father was a well-to-do brewer. Ex-husband, Bassett Jordan, was a French tutor to the First Families of the South.
Friends: Abigail and Virginia hold each other in high esteem. Virginia sees Abigail as a good-hearted key to a better future for the South, and Abigail sees Virginia as independent, successful, free, and most importantly, everything Abigail wants to be.
Motto: “Soon this war is going to hunt us all down, and we have to be ready.”
To stifle the terrible lashes of the Southern rumor mill, Bassett and Virginia hastily married, but to little avail. Their marriage was a puppet show with a transparent curtain, leaving the townsfolk to relegate them to the fringes of society. Virginia traveled a few times a year for business, marketing her family’s wares to a slew of taverns in big cities in the North. She returned one humid summer night to a vacant house and an empty library, devoid of Barrett’s possessions. A single note in elegant script rested on the table underneath a bunch of dogwoods with the simple words, “Thank you.” Her reputation ruined and thus of little concern to her, Virginia decided to go into business for herself, opening her tavern that eventually became known for its lively celebrations.
TUDOR
Age: 38
Hometown/Nation: Maycomb, Alabama/Chincoteague, Virginia (South)
Occupation: Bodyguard for Miss Virginia, Helps out Arabella when Abigail asks
Nicknames: N/A
Family: Father and mother were slaves in Alabama. Younger brothers, who are now free and working at various places around the nation.
Friends: Miss Virginia is his best friend. He also holds anyone on the Arabella crew in very high regards.
Motto: “Just do what needs to be done, ladies and gentlemen.”
During the Emancipation Proclamation of the First Civil War, he fled with his younger brothers to the North. They reached as far as Virginia before the Jordans employed him and his eldest brother to work around the house. When Virginia Jordan, the young lady of the house, asked him to please leave and do what he wanted, he did just that. He flew and fought for the Arabella for half a year before hearing of Virginia’s misfortune. He returned to Virginia to keep her safe on her travels. He comes and goes from the tavern, exploring the world and doing his best to fix wrongs. He is also quite an expert at networking intercomeras from long distances.
