The World

The World of our tale is in 1888’s newly-reunited United States of America. The Union has thrived during the Second Civil War, finding technology far beyond the vastest imagination while researching new war machines. The former Confederacy (now known as “the south”) is quite different; the south is a terribly desolate and backwoods portion of the nation. Thrust decades back in living conditions and technology, the south is now a third world dead country.

While many dealings of life has continued on as usual, technology and war has caused the society to find themselves in a crevice of oddities. For one, women are allowed in the military. For a second, inventors are seen as a novelty, battling in small contests to win celebrity. But mostly, persons are still good persons and bad persons are usually thinking themselves better persons.
